Middleton is a locally owned women's clothing and accessories boutique in downtown Middlebury, built around effortless style, personalized service, and a genuinely welcoming shopping experience. We're growing our business, and every team member plays a part in that growth.
We're looking for a sales-minded, style-savvy Sales Associate who loves helping customers look and feel their best — and who takes real ownership of hitting their sales numbers. If you love the thrill of a great outfit coming together and the satisfaction of hitting a goal, this is your role.
What You'll Do
Sell and style, first and foremost:
- Greet every customer warmly and guide them toward products and outfits that make them feel confident.
- Offer styling suggestions and outfit pairings based on each customer's preferences and needs.
- Own your individual sales goals and help the team hit the store's monthly targets.
- Stay current on new arrivals, seasonal trends, and promotions so you can sell with confidence and expertise.
Support the manager and the store:
- Work closely with the Boutique Manager and team to keep daily operations running smoothly.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling.
- Keep the sales floor and fitting rooms clean, organized, and visually appealing.
- Help keep merchandise well-stocked, tagged, and displayed to visual standards, and support merchandising updates.
Build the customer relationship:
- Build genuine relationships with customers to encourage repeat visits and loyalty.
- Collect customer feedback and share it with the manager to help improve the shopping experience.
- Attend team meetings and trainings, and support store events, promotions, and community engagement as needed.
What We're Looking For
- A genuine drive to sell — you take ownership of your numbers and enjoy working toward a goal.
- Previous experience in retail or customer service preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A real interest in fashion, styling, and helping others feel confident.
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and assisting with light lifting and restocking.
